The SHIFT Challenge Awaits.

Welcome to the SHIFT Challenge — our way of finding the bold, curious, and driven minds ready to push boundaries with us. This isn’t a standard application; it’s a creative test of instinct, strategy, and taste. We’re not looking for the perfect résumé — we’re looking for thinkers who see what others don’t, who build, question, and reimagine. Ready to prove you’ve got the SHIFT?

THINK FAST

What department
would you like to join?

Tell us where you play at your absolute best. Describe the area you see yourself owning inside SHIFT and the way you’d like to contribute there – how you think, how you collaborate, what you want to build. If you’re aiming to be among the best, we want to understand the context, challenges and support you need from us to grow fast and do your sharpest work.

The most
flexible challenge

    Pixel-Perfect Homepage Replication

  • Choose a live brand homepage you admire and rebuild it pixel-perfect (desktop and mobile). Match typography (typeface, weights, line-height), spacing, grid, colors, icons, imagery, interactions (hover, focus, active), and motion. Recreate responsive behavior at key breakpoints, ensure semantic HTML and accessible states, and aim for a fast Lighthouse score without external page builders.

Submit a public repo + live preview and a short README explaining tech stack, font handling (webfonts/fallbacks), breakpoints, performance choices, and any known gaps. Evaluation focuses on: visual fidelity, responsive precision, code quality/semantics, accessibility, performance, and attention to micro-interactions. The more complex the original page, the higher the ceiling.

    The API Paradox

  • Build or outline a REST or GraphQL endpoint for fetching and filtering complex product data (like size, color, stock, and price). Focus on clean structure, performance, and maintainability. How do you balance flexibility for the frontend with backend efficiency?

    Build a Mini Authentication System

  • Create a simple API with user registration and login using JWT. It should include basic validation, password hashing, and token expiration. Bonus if you add role-based access (e.g., admin, user) and secure error handling.

    Order Tracking Endpoint

  • Simulate an order system where users can create, update, and retrieve order statuses. Include endpoints for changing states (e.g., pending, shipped, delivered) and validate transitions to prevent logical errors.

    Redesign a Painful Experience

  • Pick an everyday digital flow you find clunky – sign-up, delivery, or checkout. Reimagine it to be simpler, faster, and more intuitive. Show the before and after, plus your rationale.

    From Brief to Blueprint

  • You receive a short client brief: “We need a modern homepage for an ecommerce furniture brand – elegant, slow luxury, warm minimalism.” Create the structure, wireframes, and the detailed UI/UX Design file for the homepage.

    The Rebellion Brief

  • Design a landing page for a product or brand of your choice – completely from scratch. You can take inspiration, but not replicate any existing layout or visual identity. Focus on originality, clear hierarchy, and emotional impact. Every detail – from typography to spacing to motion – should reflect intentional design thinking and brand storytelling

    Funnel Breakdown

  • Map a full marketing funnel (awareness → consideration → conversion) for a product of your choice. Define the message, format, and platform for each stage, with reasoning behind your choices.

    The KPI Pivot

  • You launch a campaign that hits CTR targets but fails to convert. Explain how you’d diagnose and pivot: which data you’d look at, which variables you’d test, and what next steps you’d take.

    The Future of Luxury

  • Redefine what luxury will mean a decade from now. Forget clichés — no gold, marble, or excess. Instead, capture the essence of modern exclusivity: restraint, rarity, and emotional depth. Design a full visual identity that expresses this new standard of luxury through typography, color, and tone. Your challenge is to make less feel like everything.

The Reinvention Brief - Rebrand a Known Icon

  • Choose a globally recognized brand that feels outdated, misaligned, or too comfortable in its identity. Reimagine it for today’s world — evolve its voice, visual language, and purpose while preserving the essence that made it iconic. Your task is to modernize without erasing. Present the transformation through logo, palette, typography, and brand story.

The Genesis Brief - Create a Fresh Brand from Scratch

  • Invent a brand that doesn’t yet exist but should. It can be a product, service, or cultural concept that solves a real human need in a fresh way. Build its identity system — name, logo, colors, tone, and positioning — and show how it could stand confidently in the real market. Think conceptually, but make it feel launch-ready

    The Scroll Stopper

  • Create a reel to make someone stop scrolling. Concept, design, or direct a social piece that hooks instantly — not with shock, but with intent. Focus on rhythm, hierarchy, and intrigue.

    The Product Emotion

  • Take a simple, everyday object — a candle, cup, or notebook — and turn it into something people desire. Through photo, video, or mixed media, create one piece of content that makes it feel like a story, not a product. Focus on lighting, mood, and texture.

    The Before & After

  • Find an existing ad or piece of branded content that fell flat — maybe boring, predictable, or disconnected. Reimagine it your way: same goal, better concept. Show the “before” and “after” side by side and explain how your version connects deeper or communicates clearer.
